Musings in Natural Law
Secular Assault

Christianity is under attack in the current world. That should not surprise anybody. This is not even a new phenomenon. Man's fallen nature never changes.
The question is what we do about it. It is okay to acknowledge that there is a problem. We do have a problem. Admitting to a problem is worthless without repentance and that is what we have to call for. How are we going to combat the conversion of the young to this faith which was not known to their fathers?
By all means, shout from the mountaintops. Let the truth, the emperor's nakedness, be known on every continent. That is what our Lord calls us, like John the Baptist, to do. Let me tell you now that this is not going to be enough. We will win this war, in the end, because the lost have embraced their own demise. I would consider myself a poor servant if I sacrificed any of my Lord's sheep who could be saved.
Neutrality is a code for taking the side that you cannot admit to. There is nothing wrong with conflict where conflict is due. Would you tell the survivors of Auschwitz that they should not have provoked the National Socialists? We cannot hope to win a defensive war and that is what Satan is trying to talk us into fighting.
I read the article about the creator of 'Moral Oral' feeling like Satan's son in church. I've also seen articles where children are quoted as feeling uncomfortable with teachers talking about Jesus. The prophet whose words we command be preached in schools that we are taxed to pay for, Charles Darwin, speaks of most favored races and survival of the fittest. Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong and Adolph Hitler were the high priests of Darwin, killing millions of people each, and school children do not react to their names the way students react to the name of
Jesus. In fact, nobody should react the way that these children are reacting to Jesus Christ.
Most of us here have attended the government schools and have, therefore, heard sermons of a faith foreign to us. No story of Buddha made me feel like the Antichrist. This reaction, to the name of Christ, is not natural. We did not take the threat seriously and it is coming back to haunt us.
Satan does not extol the virtue of his ways. Historically, Satan has shifted the argument to the limitations imposed by God. Defending Christianity is not going to be effective against this. The defense must be mounted, but it cannot be the center of our tactics. Remember, Satan does not want you to follow him. He is happier if you do not even believe in him. For Satan to win, he only has to turn you away from God, even if you still attend church twice a day.
What I propose is an intellectual offensive. We must meet every "Letters to a Christian Nation" with a "Letters to a Secular Nation." Never tie your apologetics to scripture as though both shared the same weight because apologetics is an endeavor of flawed men. Do not counter the men of the false faith directly because such personalization will allow emotional reactions to cloud your judgment. Remember that we are always to love our enemies.
The holy spirit gives us wisdom and that is what we must expect from ourselves. Our churches can no longer breed intellectual lightweights. You may not have noticed this, but we who are the Lord's are starving for something more than the theological candy that we've been fed in Sunday school. Government schools produce the simplicity that is secular. Churches have to take up the slack to produce the wisdom that is faithful and holy.
Why do we sit around regretting our poor positioning in the battle for the hearts and minds of the people of this world? Did John the Baptist keep silent to keep his head? Was Christ willing to keep silent to keep the false peace? Are we good followers of Christ if we refuse to walk in the steps of the Apostles?
I think not.
